FCA’s team collectively has over 70 years experience in hedge fund analysis, establishment, seed deal negotiation, business development and management and provides the combination of key skills needed to complement FRM’s existing strengths.
The team identifies new or early stage managers through a global network of contacts, including leading prime brokers and other institutions, as well as through referrals from FRM’s Manager Research teams located in the US, Europe and Asia. This global approach is becoming increasingly relevant as hedge funds become more geographically dispersed and emerging markets grow in importance.
Once a seed opportunity emerges from the identification and evaluation process FCA negotiates and executes an investment in the underlying fund of the manager. Where required, FCA will also provide support and advice to seeded managers to ensure that they structure their funds optimally in areas such as operations, compliance, risk management and technology in order to meet the investment criteria of institutional investors.
